Season 2, Episode 4: Dick Yuengling

Welcome to the Back to Life: Finding Fulfillment after 50 Podcast. Today, I’m onsite in Pottsville, Pennsylvania at the  D.G. Yuengling & Son Brewery where I’m talking with current owner, Dick Yuengling, about building a beer empire and how he still finds fulfillment in the day-to-day operation of the business after over 36 years of ownership, and at the age of 78! Dick talks about the difficult year of COVID and how he and his people faced the uncertainty.

Dick, the fifth-generation owner of D.G. Yuengling & Son, turned his family's struggling brewery into one of America's largest beer makers. When he bought out his father in 1985, the company was producing 137,000 barrels per year; now it pumps out nearly 3 million barrels annually; leading to Dick being featured on the Forbes 400 richest list. He still works 8-10 hours a day in his Wrangler jeans…always making sure to get his nap in the middle of day!

You’ll hear him talk about how success has helped define his fulfillment and how he finds great happiness in mentoring his four daughters to become the 6th generation to lead Yuengling past its 200th birthday.

It was such a privilege to interview this legend of a man, you don’t want to miss this episode.
